Afton Ptrol Challenge 2016
Patrol Challenge is back for year 4!
August 20, 2016
Gates open at 10:00
Game starts at 11:00
Game will end around 4:30
Directions to the field: https://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode&time&date&ttype&q=white+mountain+rd+afton+virginia&sll=38.092417%2C-78.839264&sspn=0.446368%2C0.933838&ie=UTF8&ll=37.988316%2C-78.785877&spn=0.055876%2C0.11673&z=13&iwloc=addr&om=1
This is a chance to do something different than our normal pick-up games. Small teams will set out at the beginning with the intention of operating together all day. If you want to eat or rest, that is on your team to arrange. If you need to reload magazines, that is on your team as well. Once you step off, it's game on until day's end.
Stepping Off:
Teams will begin stepping off in a staggered start once they are ready. The earlier your team is ready, the earlier they will be allowed to step off and get set out in the field. My team will be the last one to step off at 11:00. If you show up after the last team has stepped off, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY. Do not plan on showing up at 10:50 and expect to be ready to go.
Teams:
- Players will sign up for their team by PMing the Virginia Airsoft page. Each team should have between 4 and 6 members. Clicking "attend" to this event or posting your team in the comments is not the same as registering.
- There is NO COST to play, however all players MUST SIGN UP IN ADVANCE. If you have a friend who isn’t on Facebook but would like to come, you must sign them up anyway. This is to help keep the team sizes balanced and coordinate objectives.
- The benefit of having your team in advance is the ability to coordinate. Take advantage of it!
- I will keep a running list in this post as teams are formed and fill up.
Objectives:
Players will be randomly assigned a list of objectives from the start. The objectives will cover a range of different tasks. Teams may complete as many or as few as they would like.
Examples:
Bounty – Higher command has decided that Tom is a jerk. Eliminate him and obtain photographic evidence.
Recovery – Intelligence reports that an enemy team is in possession of classified weapons plans. Recover them and hold on to them until the end of the day.
Required Equipment:
- Teams can kit up the same if they like, but there is certainly no requirement to do so.
- Each player must be able to carry necessary food, water, and basic combat equipment with them for the duration of the game. Back up weapons can be left back at the cars. The only acceptable reasons to return to the cars is to replace a weapon or because of a real-world emergency.
- Each team must have the ability to take photographs, whether it is a camera or a smartphone.
Waivers
-With the forum down, waivers will be rehosted in the coming days.
- If you have attended an Afton game since 2/23/13, you already have a waiver on file.
- Minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. An adult who brings you DOES NOT count unless they are actually your parent or legal guardian.
Saftey
-No full-auto capable guns over 420fps w/ .2g BBs
-Snipers / Semi-only limited to 500fps w/ .2g BBs - 100Ft MED
-Safety kills from 10ft away or less. Accepting these is optional and offering them is a courtesy. Use good judgment if the target does not comply.
- Everyone must have Z87.1 certified eye protection. This can range from shooting glasses to paintball masks based on your preference. Note that shooting glasses must have side coverage. Mesh masks are allowed. Full face mask is required for minors 15 and below.
If this isn’t your cup of tea, no worries! Regular Afton games will be planned for other days in the future as usual. I hope to have one called for early September. This is not a permanent replacement for pick-up games. This is an attempt to try something a little different and work on (or learn) some different skills. If this sounds like your deal, let’s get some teams started!
