VFC 416: Lipo Battery and Acc.
I've been reading up on Lipos for my 416 (I just got it) and I wanted to make sure this was all I needed.
Turnigy Balancer/Charger
Turnigy Battery
Is that all I need? Battey and the Charger/Balancer? Do I need a discharger or any other accessories?

Don't discharge your lipos. They need to have a charge on them. Discharging them completely can damage the cells in them.

Also, that charger says it does not include power supply. Most of us like the thunder AC6 or the skycharger Ba6

and this: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__28638__Turnigy_nano_tech_2000mah_2S_15_25C_Lipo_AIRSOFT_Pack_US_Warehouse_.html
What kind of adapter do I need?

How difficult is it to change the Tamiya Connector to the Deans? And the battery I'm looking at is small Tamiya anyway. I just want to make sure the charger have the right connector to charge the battery.

Re: VFC 416: Lipo Battery and Acc.
Lipos don't charge via the "battery" connector (aka Deans, Tamiya, etc), but instead by the special Lipo "balance" connector (looks like a wide flat white plug). If you look at the picture of the battery you posted, it's not the Tamiya connector that it charges by, but the small white plug to the right of the Tamiya connector. The Tamiya connector on that battery is how it would connect to the gun, but not how it would charge.

That's what I thought after reading up on Lipos but wanted to make sure that if I order that charger and battery, once they get here I'll be good to go and won't have to go and buy more adaptors or anything.
EDIT: Actually I was told you need to plug in the charger and the connector.
Which brings me back to the fact that shopping for Lipos is starting to irritate me.
If I buy the Thunder AC6 Charger
and the GENS ACE 1200mAH 2s battery
Then what adapter would I need to charge the battery? I know the charger comes with these adapters: JST, 4mm banana, Tamiya, JR, glow, and alligator clips
(Apparently the Tamiya is male)
I'm extremely confused. All I want to know is what adapter I need to charge the battery.

FWIW I have this charger (requires this power supply).

You don't need an adapter PERIOD to charge your battery. Adapters are for connecting your battery to your gun.
The piece I have circled in green contains all the slots for plugging in LiPos of varying sizes (7.4v lipo is a different connector than a 11.1v lipo for example). That strip appears to contain all sorts of LiPo voltage slots. That strip plugs into the slot on the side of the charger it appears. That charger is honestly way more hardcore than anything I personally use. I have a cheap $30 charger from HK/China that I charge my LiPos with and it works great. But if that's the charger these guys are recommending for you, then roll with it.
The piece I have circled in green on your battery is the connector you connect to your charger for charging your battery. Do NOT attempt to charge your battery through the standard connectors on the battery as this is a good way to fry your LiPo and burn down your home/apartment/etc.
The ONLY thing you will need adapters for is connecting your battery to your gun. For example, the battery pictured has Tamiya connectors; if your gun has Deans connectors, you will need a Deans to Tamiya adapter. It's simple - charge battery through LiPo connector, hook battery to gun via standard connector.

Re: VFC 416: Lipo Battery and Acc.
I don't usually buy adaptors...but when I do
I end up just snipping the old plugs and soldering on new ones
But what Slice says is true, you don't need an adaptor, balancing happens with the tap plug.
The only thing you really need to plug the main connector to the charger for is cycling, fast charging, and discharge/storage. You theoretically shouldn't need to plug it in for balance charging

So I bought this battery and it doesn't fit. The sticks are too wide for the compartments. As far as I know I can just return them my question now is which do you think would fit better?

Actually with a good charger you hook up to the balance AND the lead plug. Looks like it comes with tamiya though.
Slice these chargers end up only around 50 and they charge and shut off at the right voltage better than the cheaper ones, they are also settable for a precise trickle charge amperage, I use a low setting for my P* 350 mah batteries. The charger will make batteries live longer, also works for nimh and can even be used to charge motorcycle and car batteries.
These tend to work as buffer tube lipos but it is important to check dimensions. Use a piece of paper folded into a a box of the right length to be sure and remember to allow for wires. Personally I dont like buffer tube lipos as you have limited capacity.

this will PROBABLY work for a crane stock. check to be sure.

I thought you were supposed to hook up the charging end and the balancer. Thank you.
Actually I bought another battery very similar to that first one. The 2nd one you posted is the one I got. It was too big which sucks because I wanted the 2000mAh. But oh well, I'll use it in my KWA M16.

Re: VFC 416: Lipo Battery and Acc.
With the 7 different LiPos I've owned I've never once hooked up both balance and lead charger, and they're all going strong after 4 years. Personal experience may vary I guess but strictly charging through the balance connector has never done me wrong.

I am sure it will work just fine Jesse, I like my charger mostly for the extra bells and whistles, since it is only 10 or 15 more I think it is worth it. And...you play airsoft? (just kidding)
