OP Beached Whale Sept 15
So we have been invited to OP Beached whale at Wolf Creek Tactical in North Carolina. This is the 2nd milsim game VTAC will be attending and is a 24 hour event. If the last event at OP Sanctuary is any indication it is going to be a grueling tough mission after mission OP with little to no sleep and lots of walking. I think Greg and I estimated over 15 miles covered at OP Sanctuary if we included the JSOC missions. So people going must be PREPARED. I don't want anyone falling out and needing medical attention because they are not fit enough for the challenge. Anyone attending should be exercising NOW. Because if you haven't been doing so this is going to kill you. I want us to look good as a team and I expect the utmost from everyone attending. Greg and I have spoken about this in length and we are serious about how we are presented to the NC milsim community. We got this invitation because of our willingness to suck it up at Sanctuary and be good soldiers. We did what we were asked and more. We did not complain, and we stayed longer on the field that night than any other team just to prove ourselves.
I expect no less from everyone attending. As it stands we have seven members on SEALs. I don't want anyone else on SEALs unless someone drops out. And I don't want anyone dropping out without finding a replacement. We have made a commitment to this OP and if there is no emergency your ass better be ready to play. The rest of us can sign for Somali Pirates. Why not all SEALs? Well there are several reasons.
1. To give other teams a chance to be on the SEAL team
2. We have never played at Wolf Creek so if the SEALs are all VTAC, then they are gonna get crushed just because we don't know the field.
3. We want to meet as many other teams as possible so playing both sides of the fence will allow that to happen
So far the SEAL roster is:
1. Greg
2. Gavin
3. Zach
4. Kaleb
5. Evan
6. Chris
7. Drew
Somali Pirates
1. Sean
2. Kyle
3. Tom Breeden?
I would like more of us to sign as pirates but please go through me or Greg. This is not a power trip. It is actually more work for the officers of the club. But it presents a united team front. I don't want us to appear as a gaggle of loose cannons, bombarding an OP organizer with questions and concerns and contradictory statements to confuse them. It makes us look unprofessional and that is not how things are done. We are acting as a milsim team in this case and milsim means go through chain of command. Greg and I expect a higher level of organization and commitment for this OP. Make us proud to be the CO and XO of the club. We are getting our name out there and so far the response to VTAC is very positive by members of Raptor1, SWC and Valhalla ODA. Those are three of the top teams in NC. We want our name included there too.
So....there will be no:
1. Crying about getting overshot...suck it up. That's what we were told at the last OP.
2. Anyone NOT calling hits will be banned forever from NC milsim games and their team also gets suspended for several months. Don't let this be you.
3. Quitting. We are not quitters. VTAC perseveres. We will impress other with our stubborness and will to continue.
4. Telling people to call their hits. We are a class act. This will NOT be tolerated nor any other classless behavior.
It is time we take our rightful place as one of the top teams in this region. I want people to see our patch and think "ok, these are some high speed good players. I am glad they are here." That is all gentlemen. What follows is the event info:

In one of their braver assaults on a cargo vessel bearing the United States flag, Somali Pirates have taken a millionaire shipping tycoon, “Captain Bob”, hostage in the Gulf of Aden and moved him to inland Somalia. They are holding him for the ransom of 50 million dollars to be paid before the end of the September. If the United States refuses to pay, he will be executed.
The President has authorized the deployment of US Navy SEALs to rescue him. There is already a team of CIA SOG agents deployed in the area on a separate mission, who will meet up with the SEALs on the ground.

----A hostile act is defined as, “armed force directly to preclude or impede the missions and/or duties of US or allied forces.”
--The response is directed at the source of the hostile act using only the force necessary to eliminate the threat
--If necessary and proportional to the hostile act, use all available weapons to deter, neutralize, or destroy the threat as required.
• CIA and SNA will NOT fire unless there is clear evidence of hostile intent or a hostile act by the target.
--Hostile Intent is defined as, “The threat of imminent use of force by a Somali force or other foreign force, terrorist group, or individuals against the United States, US forces, US citizens, or refugees or otherwise located within a US or allied safe haven refugee area. When the on-scene commander determines, based on convincing evidence, that hostile intent is present, the right exists to use proportional force to deter or neutralize the threat.”

... I really want to come as a pirate... But we'll have to see what life throws at me as time goes on. I'll have a better idea once the semester starts on whether or not Senior Year will allow me two airsoft events in one semester. Senior year and my wife, really...
If I do go as a pirate, are we the VTAC pirates going to coordinate our uniform in any way?

Re: OP Beached Whale Sept 15
There is not really a coordination in Somali uniform. It's simply "civilian clothes". Try not to bring anything too tactical looking. At sanctuary there were a few terrorists that could have passed for US. Don't be that guy.
Also something I would like to suggest. When we figure out drivers we absolutely need to ensure that the drivers (or someone in the car, I guess) get sleep. After only 1.5 hours of sleep at Sanctuary I felt I was putting those in my car at a high risk on the drive back and gave the wheel to Gavin. Otherwise there's no guarantee anyone will be getting sleep unless we specifically designate someone to rest. It's a very likely possibility you will not sleep for the 24 hour duration of the game. Just my thoughts.

Re: OP Beached Whale Sept 15
Kyle, we can try and make sure that some of our peeps get sleep. It is definitely an option as even in the last OP, many Valhalla members left to go back to the RV and get some sleep. We can make sure that those who are driving get a chance to do so.
I asked about plate carriers for Somali Pirates and also about weapon loadouts. Here is Ben's reply:
Pirates are allowed to wear plate carriers. Here's a rough explanation why: Militiamen are the impoverished members of Somali society who have taken up arms against what little government there is within Somalia and international entities(Red Cross, etc.) who attempt to provide aid. Pirates have taken advantage of the large shipping network right off the coast of their country and due to some companies/individuals giving in to Pirate demands, they tend to make a little money. Meaning they can afford to buy protection and arms from government forces(Who may not be able to feed their families) or international agents(Terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda).
As for colours, I am not too worried about gear colour, so long as the base uniform follows the restrictions. Even though they may have more access than a standard Somali citizen, the selection of equipment is definitely a whatever's available kind of situation.
Same for weapons. Although I would encourage players to attempt to assemble the most accurate loadout possible, I realize that this may not be possible, especially in terms of weapons. M4's will be fine.
Cheers!

I agree, I'd much rather camp.
Also, I would really prefer not to drive to this event, i can give gas moneyz or supply a ride to either Fulda or the Outdoor Campaign.

Re: OP Beached Whale Sept 15
I saw the post about tents/sleeping during the game on FB. He said not to bring anything you aren't willing to have shot at. I have three pup tents that I certainly don't mind getting shot at if we want them as a rest area. ACVT pirate camp?
Also, any more word on Friday night?

Re: OP Beached Whale Sept 15
Tom I know you're on the other team and all but the SEAL guys would probably like to have one of those tents if possible. I know Im not bringing my tent as I dont want holes in it. Kaleb brought his last time so maybe he can bring that again?
Also its probably time to sort out drivers. By the count on the FB page we have 11 people going. So who is willing and can carry larger amounts of people? I have no problem taking my truck to haul gear so other vehicles (particularly nice fuel efficient cars) can carry more people. But I can only carry one other person.

I'd offer to drive but I think I have an exhaust leak. Would make people ill, along with increased risk for a long trip. Have money for gas if I can ride with someone.

Re: OP Beached Whale Sept 15
I can bring two tents for SEALs. One 5 person and one 3. I plan on sleeping in the 3 for quality rest as I am planning to drive. Greg has already settled up with me and will be riding shotgun. I have "jumpseats" in my extended cab that one more person can sit across in and remain somewhat comfortable. Any extra space that is available in the truck bed after myself and passenger have loaded up is open to others!

Re: OP Beached Whale Sept 15
Ok sounds good. Money will of course be given. What time do you want to leave Kyle? Also what about Tom? Prob best if he has space too since he has other driving before and after Blacksburg. We also need to provide for Ben.
We will need one more car at yeast it seems for Chris and Evan and Zach and such.

There's already a thread on this. People should begin claiming rides. I'll post up who I believe is in my vehicle.

As much as it sucks, I won't be able to make it. I've come down with a pretty terrible cold. I probably wouldn't be able to play a typical day in this state, let alone a 24 hour game.
