Gas Gun Feasability
As the title says, is it feasible to use a gas gun as a primary?
I have my WE SOCOM 16 and most of the bugs have been sorted. That said, it's a DMR so I wouldn't expect heavy cooldown, only 5 mags w/ 20 round capacity, and I'm not too trigger happy. Looking at the whole sniper team thing, I'd have to install an NPAS to knock her down to 400 FPS; is the limit for .2g or .25g?
If not, I do have AEGs that I can run.
Thanks.

Yeah, it would be fine to use as long as it doesnt rain. I will say that I went semi auto mostly last year and still dumped TONS of ammo. I recommend bringing speed loaders and bags of ammo. Most of us used .28s last year. You just have to chrono with a set weight.

they chrono with .25s, as long as it's under 400 with .25s you'll be fine

Ive never had rain affect a gbbr and ive used them in the rain for sure. Just practice trigger discipline and you'll be fine. I run my mp7 with 150-200 rounds and i still do fine with confirmed shots past 225 ft. Like zach said speed loades and green gas are worth carrying on you. For fulda id recommend an aeg, but with proper dmr tactics you could still pull it off

Okay cool.
If allowed, I'd prefer propane.
I couldn't find if Bio BBs are required.
If someone could answer those two, I'd be down for going.
Since the main part of the thread has basically been answered, I have a few questions otherwise:
I saw that you can come Thursday, but are you guys planning on getting there Friday?
Camping or not camping? I have my own tent, if needed. (2 man)
What other general stuff to bring? I haven't done an event like this before so I don't have a good list to start with.
I appreciate the quick responses.

I plan on bringing my mac11 anyway. Going to try to find some more spare mags for it and run it as my I-Kill-You-With-Small-Gun style of play. But yes, as everyone agrees, gas guns are fine. Only thing with rain I was referring to was water rolling back into that large bolt opening on your m14... but i dont have any clue what affects water would have on your mag or in your weapon aside from water getting in your barrel.

Re: Gas Gun Feasability
propane and non bios should be fine.
I want to be there at 12 noon on Friday.
Camping gear, a good jacket and warm bag.
Food, water is a must, they have water stations but not much water in them. I would bring a 36 bottle pack.
I will probably do another bulk MRE purchase, last year they were great to have.

Really you just need your basic camping gear for the time of year. Food, plenty of water (as sean said) and then whatever you need to play airsoft non-stop for two days straight. plenty of batteries/gas/bbs. And at least one backup main gun if not two. I know I went through over 10k rounds in those two days as well as 4 batteries. But then again I went with an RPK and got a bit trigger happy.

Re: Gas Gun Feasability
Gunna have to agree with Sean. I emptied 2 full bags of ammo and was working on a third. Between my AK and my M4, I must have taken down 5-6 batteries. Problem is the days are really hot and the nights get really cold. Batteries don't fair as well through that change. All mine are still working though, they just lost charge faster. This year i plan on running my Block 2 M4 and having the m416 and M4a1 as backups as both will be r-hopped and all mags are interchangeable. Just saves me hassle. Before Fulda, I plan on doing a bulk order from bioshot or some BB company to get enough for the rest of the year. I will probably buy about 20,000 myself and then let anyone else chip in as they wish. I also want to acquire a better sleeping bag than my current and some kind of a pillow.

Re: Gas Gun Feasability
Be prepared for some serious layering. It wasn't too terribly hot during the day, and I still wore full BDUs. As mentioned though, you may find yourself surprised by the temperature changes. Something I learned from last year though, you should ABSOLUTELY have a hydration carrier. I carried a canteen with me and still ran into side effects of dehydration. It's because I only drank water in the down times (ie, dead), but depending on what you're doing you may be surprised at your survivability.
At night I used a hammock and a sleeping bag. It worked alright, but I got cold once the dew set in, as neither are particularly waterproof.
As far as the original post goes, you're going to be shooting a lot. While having a gun as nice as that M14 is fun, you may find yourself disappointed at how disciplined your trigger finger will have to be.
As the 39th, we're going to spend a good part of the beginning of the day assaulting a base (Rex). There's very little room for being sneaky, so you'll likely be either suppressing fire or engaging in CQB once you run headlong into the base. Once we took Rex last year we spent a lot of time defending it from within the base, though if you sneak into the woods (which is doable) then you may be able to pick people off. From there is OP Alpha and then Alpha (they are different). Alpha allows for the best chance at utilizing the GBBR M14 to its fullest, as the going is a bit slower through the woods. The only other base we're likely to look at is Sim City, which is sort of a lost cause considering how close their spawn is to the City. I'd imagine that will be the standard course of action unless we really steamroll NATO, which isn't likely. Last year we found ourselves beating their infantry pretty well, but their armor division was superior to ours and really messed us up pretty bad.

Plan on spending rounds, regardless of your trigger discipline. I probably fired more rounds at Fulda last year than any other event I have attended. Like Sean said, even if you have great trigger discipline, there are a lot of targets. Words cannot describe how many people you will catch out in the open at one time. If you carry a lot of spare rounds and make good use of your downtime to top off, I think you will be okay.

Agreed Tom, id also recommend carrying a pdw type aeg with a hicap or two in case things go south ( this is fulda they always do).

Looking at hydration carriers. Specifically the J-Tech D-1 or the OE Tech Hydration Backpack. I plan on running a chest rig, so MOLLE attachment is not a necessary characteristic.
Does anyone have suggestions?

Okay, so I think I'll stick with the OE Tech Hydration Carrier and 3L Source Bladder.
Any requirement for comms? I don't have anything as of right now and would rather avoid buying unless required.

Aight, one last question.
Night game. Do you guys do it? (Sounds like a yes) I was wondering what I should expect out of it.
Edit on the hydration stuff. Going to pick up a TNT One Day Backpack and a Source WXP 2L from Botach.

Thanks for the head's up.
I did look up review's beforehand, so I know what's up. Contacted them today to check stock. Site said that the hydration bladder was in stock, but the warehouse doesn't have it.
Any projections of how many VTAC folks are doing the night game? I'd either buy the Midwest Industries mount for a flashlight or go with a ghetto tape job.

I use this one on the flashlight I got from these guys as well: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/2-75-inch-flashlight-and-laser-universal-gun-mount-5819 although they may seem shady they're legit to deal with and free shipping cant be beat.
